In the new ranking, The Langham’s Artesian bar has held onto its position as the best bar in the world.
The bar at the London hotel has now taken the top slot in the World’s 50 Best Bars ranking for the fourth year in a row.
Several other hotel bars in London come out top, with five included in the list as well as Artesian, with The Savoy’s two bars - The American Bar and The Beaufort Bar - Dandelyan at the new Mondrian Hotel and The Connaught Bar at the Connaught Hotel all featuring in the top 50.
Artesian is headed up by Alex Kratena and Simone Caporale and others in the top three remain unchanged from last year - New York’s Dead Rabbit and London’s Nightjar.
Drinks International’s release of the top 50 bars list marks the end of London Cocktail Week and also revealed that London beat New York as best city in the world for bars. The capital’s bars make up five of the top 10 and nine bars overall, one more than New York. However, the US overall is the best country for bars, with 14 of its drinking houses listed in the top 50.
Innovative bars make up the rest of the top-listed candidates in London, such as 69 Colebrooke Row, Happiness Forgets, White Lyan and Nightjar.
This year’s ranking includes bars from 27 cities in 19 countries. Votes were cast for 542 bars around the world and whittled down to the top 50 to determine the final rankings by industry experts.
