The move comes after a number of people in travel were impacted by the pandemic, especially those on reduced income due to furlough, the self-employed who didn’t qualify for income support, and those who lost their jobs.
Trudie Clements, Abta LifeLine director, said the charity is now seeing an increasing number of people seeking support and advice as the cost-of-living crisis in the UK bites.
"Many are worrying about how they are going to pay their bills, or wondering which bills they should pay first," Clements added, who was also named Travel Legend at the Travel Industry Awards by TTG on Thursday (29 September) for her work with the organisation.
"Others are concerned about getting further into debt and how they are going to be able to feed their family. If every member, no matter how big or small, joined the appeal, those pounds added together would make a real difference to colleagues and their families in a time of need."
To take part, members can donate £2 for every employee they have, match the funding from every £2 collected from employees, set up a payroll giving scheme for their staff or make a corporate donation.
