Taking place on 24 May in London with TTG Media as media partner, the event will offer a practical look at how tourism can we used to deliver growth within environmental limits and what practical steps businesses can take internally, with suppliers and customers.
Attendees will also be invited to examine how to ensure their continued business growth and recovery is sustainable and positively contributes to communities, natural eco-systems, and cultural heritage across the globe.
Delegates will hear from destinations and tour operators who will share examples of taking a collective approach to ensure benefits of tourism are felt by all. Discussions will also centre on how to tackle sustainability internally and receive buy-in from stakeholders and senior leadership, with tips on suggesting roles and responsibilities internally and what skillsets are needed to tackle responsible travel goals.
Abta is also offering free attendance to five member travel agents on a first-come, first-served basis (details below).
Event moderator Susan Deer, director of industry relations said: “There has been progress over the last couple of years; with more businesses publishing sustainability strategies and reporting on targets, including setting science-based targets… but there is still a long way to go.
“At the heart of this progress is sharing insight and learning from each other. I’m thrilled we’re able to bring together members, partners and colleagues from across the industry for the Delivering Sustainable Travel Conference to exchange ideas, provide inspiration and challenge our thinking.”
Matt Callaghan, director of customer and operations, easyJet holidays who will also be speaking added: “I’m a firm believer that education, collaboration, and speedy implementation is key to our industry making progress and it’s by working together that we can have the biggest impact. We also know that the sustainability credentials of a holiday provider are becoming increasingly important to holidaymakers.”
