The maker of the A320 narrow-body passenger jet said it is cooperating with the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) after the inquiry was opened last month, the Metro reports.
The firm said in a statement: “Airbus group has been informed by the SFO that it has opened a criminal investigation into allegations of fraud, bribery and corruption in the civil aviation business of Airbus Group relating to irregularities regarding third-party consultants.”
Britain, Germany and France halted export credits to the group, the Metro reports.
