Lincoln-based Pax Travel went under this week after more than 30 years. The company specialised in organising Christian pilgrimages.
The CAA confirmed Pax, Atol 3011, ceased trading as an Atol holder on Wednesday (22 December).
It traded under the name Pax Travel and via website paxtravel.co.uk. The company’s website appeared offline on Thursday (23 December).
Pax held an Atol up to 30 September, said the CAA, adding: "Bookings and payments made or RCNs (refund credit notes) issued after 31 October 2021 are not Atol protected."
The CAA said it was collating more information on the failure, and urged anyone seeking to recover cash from the company not to use claim forms from other failures.
According to its Facebook page, Pax offered pilgrimages to Rome, Santiago de Compostela, Malta, Mexico and Peru, among other destinations, and was able to tailor-make arrangement.
"Although we have extensive experience of taking groups to a huge range of destinations, we are always willing to try somewhere new, so if you don’t see what you want, just ask."
Pax offered both individual and group pilgrimages.
