Airports Council International (ACI) and Iata said all testing requirements, passenger locator forms (PLFs) and the need to present proof of vaccination should be removed now Covid is pervasive throughout Europe.
The groups also called for mask-wearing for travel within or between EU states where it is no longer required in other indoor environments to be scrapped.
They said PLFs for international travel have been rendered "redundant" now contact tracing efforts are being stood down.
New research by specialist consultants Oxera and Edge Health published on Friday (11 March) claimed even if a new variant is discovered and travel restrictions were introduced immediately, the peak of infections will only be delayed by a maximum of four days.
Rafael Schvartzman, Iata’s regional vice-president for Europe, said there has been "increasing evidence" that border restrictions are ineffective since the World Health Organisation (WHO) announced Covid-19 was a global pandemic, exactly two years ago on Friday (11 March).
"The latest research from Oxera and Edge Health confirms that by the time a variant of concern is identified and restrictions are implemented, cross-border transmission will already have happened," he added.
"Europe’s population immunity is strong and Covid-19 is essentially now an endemic disease. The time has come to focus their Covid efforts on surveillance and remove remaining intra-EU restrictions."
