British Airways has taken delivery of the first of its new longer Dreamliners while on the same day it said goodbye to the last of its Boeing 737s.
The Boeing 787-9 is 20ft longer than its 787-8 predecessor (of which the airline has eight). As well as offering World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and Club World (business class), it will also feature a new first cabin.
The jet will start flying to Delhi from October 25 followed by Abu Dhabi and Muscat from November 5. The 787-9 will also fly to Kuala Lumpur in December and in February the aircraft will start flights to Austin.

Meanwhile, the last of BA’s Boeing 737 has exited the fleet.
BA2578 from Gatwick to Turin, and the return service BA2579 were the final flights operated by the jet.
The 737 fleet has been the mainstay of the carrier’s short-haul network for the last 35 years after the first 737-200s entered service in 1980, replacing the Trident fleet on UK and European routes.
BA will welcome 15 new aircraft in 2015 including two A380s, the first five Boeing 787-9s and eight A320s replacing the 737 at Gatwick.
The airline ordered a total 12 A380 super jumbos, 42 787 Dreamliners and 18 A350s.
