Barrhead Travel agents up and down the country have been getting into the festive spirit to help those “in need of a real Christmas gift”, writes Olivia Rook.
The team’s “ultimate Advent” events, including a secret Santa with a twist and a Santa run, will culminate in Barrhead’s annual awards night.
Instead of pulling their colleagues names from a hat, Barrhead’s secret Santa will instead pair employees with local children.
Funds raised by Barrhead’s festive activities will go to Barnardo’s, Save the Children and local community schemes.
Its Santa run will see staff hit the road to deliver gifts to a local Barnardo’s centre.
In Glasgow, where Barrhead is based, staff are devoting their efforts to a foodbank, which expects to feed around 8,000 families over the Christmas period.
Karen Musgrave, Barrhead PR and communications manager, said: “It became apparent they were quickly running out of food supplies and were certain there would be nothing left to offer come Christmas time. [But] between Barrhead Travel and an appeal to the public, [they’ve] managed to gather 500 bags of food.”
In Southampton, meanwhile, Barrhead has joined forces with more than 20 other businesses to host an “Ultimate Advent” Christmas initiative, with one lucky attendee at the finale event on Christmas Eve winning a P&O cruise in a prize draw.
Barrhead has also reunited Santa with Mrs Claus - you can watch the agency’s festive video below.
