The agreement – which has been at the centre of month-long negotiations – would run until 2027, removing the threat of strike for at least three and a half years.
“We are pleased that we have now reached an agreement in principle for the pilot pay award 2023-2027,” a BA spokesperson said. “Balpa will now ballot its members on the agreement in principle.”
As part of the agreement, pilots will receive a 4% pay rise this year – which will be backdated to June – followed by a series of increases until June 2026.
Sources told Sky News pilots will also receive a £1,000 one-off payment this November and will also participate in a new reward scheme, which could lead to further bonuses.
TTG has approached Balpa for further comment.
