An agreement has been thrashed out following nine hours of negotiations on Wednesday. GMB and Unite union representatives have agreed a pay offer that will now be voted on by members.
Last month, workers, who are mostly check-in staff, voted to go on strike after a 10% pay cut imposed in the pandemic was not reinstated.
The airline had originally offered a 10% temporary bonus for staff instead of a reversal of the pay cut.
Unite said BA had made "a vastly improved pay offer".
"Extensive negotiations were held on Wednesday 6 July and an agreement was reached," it said. Unite will now ballot members involved in the dispute on the proposed offer.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “We welcome that BA has finally listened to the voice of its check-in staff.
"Unite has repeatedly warned that pay disputes at BA were inevitable unless the company took our members’ legitimate grievances seriously.
"I pay tribute to, and stand with, our members who have fought hard to protect their pay.”
BA added: "“We are very pleased that, following collaboration with the unions, they have decided not to issue dates for industrial action. This is great news for our customers and our people.”
