BA will resume the daily service on 28 May using a Boeing 777. As pre-pandemic, it will be an afternoon departure, leaving at 15.00. The return service from JFK will depart at 20.10.
BA will find itself with new competition on the New York route, but one that offers far fewer seats. New York’s JetBlue entered the Gatwick-New York market in August, flying daily with a single-aisle aircraft.
Competition before the pandemic came from Norwegian, which flew a widebody Boeing 787 before it quit long-haul.
Start-up carrier Norse Atlantic Airways has applied for Gatwick slots but has so far been unsuccessful. It plans to serve Stewart airport, 60 miles north of Manhattan.
