Things are carrying on as normal at Scenic Group, despite the sudden departure of UK and Ireland MD Richard Twynam last week, the company’s trade sales chief has told TTG.
Twynam quit the company with immediate effect after just six months in the job.
Initially announced in a LinkedIn post last Thursday (27 April), the news was later confirmed by the group, which said a search to replace Twynam was under way.
Speaking to TTG at the premiere of new documentary series Maritime Masters: Expedition Antarctica, which features Scenic Eclipse, Andrea Stafford said: "We’ve got a lot to achieve in the coming weeks and months and obviously Maritime Masters is a massive focus for us.
"Our teams are good, everything is going well and we carry on.”
Produced by Warner Bros and set to be released in the UK in early June, the docu-series focuses on Eclipse’s trip from San Diego to Antarctica.
Broadcast on Discovery+, the five-episode series will showcase life onboard for both guests and crew, focusing specifically on the lives of captain Erwan Le Rouzic, food and beverage director Tom Goetter and expedition operations manager Jason Flesher.
According to Stafford, Maritime Masters will show both passengers and the trade the “sheer scale” of Scenic’s offerings.
“First of all it’s educational, so agents will learn a lot by watching it,” she added. “And then I think they will be able to turn that into knowledge to help future guests come onboard.”
The cruise line will continue to work in partnership with the trade, especially as its newest discovery yacht, Scenic II, is set to start operations later this year.
“To get agents onboard, we’ll also be running various competitions, promotions and things on social media in the coming weeks,” Stafford said. “So people will get that opportunity.”
