The Department for Transport review, The Effectiveness and Efficiency of the CAA, which is separate to the ongoing examination of the Atol system, closes on 22 January and is open to the public as well as anyone regulated or licensed by the CAA.
Among the questions are “To what extent do you agree or disagree that the CAA effectively administers the Atol scheme?” and “To what extent do you agree or disagree that the CAA effectively enforces consumer rights with its current powers?”
The survey also asks if the CAA requires additional powers generally and whether it carries out its licensing duties effectively. It also questions whether the CAA makes regulatory decisions and appeals decisions “in an efficient and effective manner”.
The consultation also raises the question of how the CAA is funded and asks if this is the right model for the future. It also asks if users would be willing to pay more to access premium functions.
Responses will be published within three months of the consultation ending.
The call for evidence is separate from that begun in April 2021 dealing with reform to Atol, which is still ongoing.
