Azamara Club Cruises’ boss has hinted that features of sister line Celebrity Cruises’ newest ship Celebrity Edge could be added to other ships across the Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd family.
Speaking during a media dinner in London last week, Larry Pimentel described Edge as “a grand slam success”.
“I think Edge was one of the nicest new-builds I’ve ever seen. I like the design elements such as the Infinite Verandas,” he said, adding: “I think that is an idea that will be copied on many ships irrespective, because it’s a better idea… You’ll see those types of unique features on small ships as well and I think we’ll see that with the next generation of Silversea ice-class ships.”
It comes as Royal Caribbean International’s boss Michael Bayley told TTG he also believed elements of Edge could be put on Royal ships, including the Infinite Veranda.
Elsewhere, Bayley confirmed to TTG plans to bring “a number of UK travel agents” to visit Royal Caribbean’s new island CocoCay, which will open on May 4.
“We will invite agents towards the end of May through some kind of competition,” Bayley told TTG.
He also revealed plans to create a number of other “Perfect Day” islands around the world.
