The line has transported thousands of blankets and sleeping bags onboard Celestyal Crystal to the resort town of Kusadasi, while also pledging to donate a proportion of the proceeds from its shore excursions to relief efforts.
“Celestyal has been bringing our guests to visit the city of Kusadasi and the magnificent ruins of nearby Ephesus for many years now,” said chief executive Chris Theophilides. “The least we could do is to lend a helping hand to our Turkish friends in need.”
Celestyal is not the only business to have come to the aid of those affected by the disaster. Intrepid Travel has spearheaded a Red Cross fundraising effort, while several others – like Celestyal – have collected and distributed aid, including the team at Hays Travel in Bexleyheath.
Just last week, TTG’s current 30 Under 30 have pledged to walk 500 miles in aid of Syria and Turkey, in the hope of raising £10,000 for international disaster relief charity Shelterbox through their efforts.
