The social enterprise travel retailer is compiling a resource for the trade and consumers containing information about opportunities for travellers to make a "positive impact" on the community, eco-system or environment while on holiday.
The hub will offer experiences such as helping with dog walking at an animal shelter in Greece; joining a beach clean in the Caribbean; planting trees in Florida; and taking part in wildlife conservation monitoring programmes in the Canary Islands.
Charitable Travel is now seeking recommendations from travel brands and destinations for local projects in countries across the globe to feature on the hub and to be promoted across their digital channels.
Melissa Tilling, chief executive of Charitable Travel, said: "The travel industry has a long tradition of supporting charities active in destinations, but there is often little awareness of the worthwhile causes supported, the achievements made and practical and responsible ways that visitors can use their time to make a difference whilst on holiday.
"Our mission with the new Voluntourism Hub is to amplify the good being done and enable more visitors to engage with local projects doing great work around the world."
The organisation has already received submissions from more than 50 projects. Those interested in putting their "voluntourism" project forward for inclusion in the hub can do so via this form.
