The event, on June 28 at RSA House in London, will occur one year on from the UK’s decision to leave the European Union.
The theme will be “Redrawing the Map” and discussions will focus on the policy matters for the travel industry arising out of Brexit.
Fankhauser will touch on industry hot topics such as Brexit, the changing travel landscape, and how Thomas Cook is adapting.
British journalist and broadcaster Andrew Pierce will offer his take on the current political landscape. He is currently consultant editor and columnist at the Daily Mail.
Travel Matters will also cover upcoming changes to the Package Travel Directive (PTD) as well as proposed increases to London’s airport capacity.
Mark Tanzer, Abta chief executive, said: “With Brexit negotiations getting underway and significant regulatory reform on the horizon, there are important changes and updates impacting travel businesses.
“Travel Matters will be an excellent opportunity for the travel industry and government to come together to debate and discuss these key issues.”
Travel Matters, sponsored by Deloitte, is an invitation-only event for senior representatives from Abta’s membership, industry stakeholders, travel and transport media as well as government departments and bodies.
A full programme of speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
