A faulty part has been named as the “major factor” behind a plane crash, which caused the death of 162 people.
AirAsia Flight 8501 plunged into the Java Sea last December and a new report by Indonesian officials has found that the actions of the crew in response to the problem was a factor in the disaster.
The BBC reported that there was a crack in the soldering on a system that controlled the rudder. This led to four warning signals being sent to the pilots.
The crew then reset the aircraft’s computer but this disabled the autopilot and they subsequently lost control.
