The lawsuit claims Robert Jones’s body was placed inside a walk-in cooler, normally used for drinks, for almost a week instead of a properly chilled morgue as promised.
According to Sky News, Jones died of a heart attack while onboard the vessel in August last year.
Filed in Florida, the lawsuit went on to state the body was found in an "advanced stage of decomposition" in a cooler in a bag on a pallet, despite Jones’s widow Marilyn claiming she was promised it would be stored in a properly chilled onboard morgue until the ship returned to Fort Lauderdale.
When approached by TTG, Celebrity Cruises declined to comment on the matter out of respect to the family and due to the fact there is ongoing litigation.
