Wilkinson has been managing director of Windermere Lake Cruises Limited, Cumbria’s largest visitor attraction, since 2004.
From 2007 to 2017, he was a director of Cumbria Tourism, the county’s destination management organisation, during which time he chaired the group’s finance committee.
He joined the Board of Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership in 2017 and chairs both its visitor economy sector panel and its finance, audit and resources committee.
In addition, Wilkinson represents the CLEP on the Lake District National Park Partnership and in late 2020, he was appointed to the Tourism Industry Council – a collaboration between government and the tourism industry focusing on bolstering the tourism sector by exploring the jobs market, as well as transport and deregulation issues.
Wilkinson is a trustee and director of of the South Cumbria Rivers Trust. He was made MBE in the Queen’s 2022 birthday honours for services to tourism and the economy in Cumbria.
