Sutton is located in Discover the World’s London office and she will work for the GSA on behalf of the airline, dealing with trade partners. The appointment means the carrier, which no longer flies to the UK, retains a sales presence here. 

Aiden Walsh, Discover the World’s head of airline development, said: “We are delighted Christine has joined our Air New Zealand team. 

“Christine has extensive knowledge of the UK and Europe travel industry, especially Australasian specialists, and I am sure will be a great brand ambassador for this innovative award-winning airline.” 

Sutton added: “After seven years out of the airline industry I am excited to have joined Air New Zealand as senior sales manager for UK and Europe.”

Sutton began her career as a consultant for Austravel and later worked for Emirates. She moved to the US in 2015 to become vice president product and marketing for STA Travel, later becoming USA senior vice president.
