The return of the year-round route, which is funded by the UK government through a public service obligation (PSO) contract, is expected from December. It has not yet been announced which London airport the flights will operate to.
Cornwall Airport Newquay said in a statement: “We are now working with Cornwall Council, the Department for Transport and Eastern Airways (as the selected airline) on the final details and expect to make an official announcement regarding the schedule and sale of seats next week.”
The four-year contract for the PSO route went to tender in July – it had previously been operated by Flybe until early 2020 when the regional carrier went into administration.
