EasyJet holidays is to allow free cancellations for all Spanish destinations up to 31 December 2021.
The revised policy means those who now cannot meet new entry requirements for Spain by providing proof of vaccination status for children aged 12-17 can cancel and receive a full refund.
The operator said it was responding to uncertainty latest changes to entry rules have created.
It is also extending its offer for customers travelling to all destinations between 18 and 31 December 2021 to amend their holiday fee free or to cancel for easyJet holidays credit.
Customers can do so up to midnight on Sunday 5 December. The company had already introduced this for bookings due to depart before 17 December.
All other customers due to travel in 2022 and beyond will be covered under the easyJet holidays Protection Promise, only needing to pay their balance 28 days before departure and with the option 28 days before travel to cancel and keep their deposit as easyJet holidays credit.
Matt Callaghan, easyJet holidays director of customer and operations, said: “We know just how special travelling at Christmas and New Year is for our customers, so we want to make sure we do the right thing.
“We’re introducing this new flexible policy to support customers with teenagers on their bookings who may not be able to provide proof of full vaccination which travelling to Spain currently requires.
“We’re also extending our cancellation for credit or free amend options for all other customers set to travel over the festive period.”
