EasyJet holidays is to lengthen its season in Rhodes, offering packages beyond the traditional October cut-off.
Rhodes is one of several Greek islands keen to lengthen the UK tourist season, which has traditionally seen flights terminated with the end of summer schedules around 31 October.
Rhodes is particularly keen this year because of the wildfires that swept the island in August. EasyJet holidays said it had seen “strong demand” from customers for Rhodes, with booking figures remaining firm during its recovery.
The operator put its Greek destinations on sale earlier than ever this year, becoming in mid-March the first operator to deliver UK clients to Rhodes. EasyJet holidays said the extension of shoulder seasons “has a positive impact on the local business communities and partners”.
Paul Bixby, easyJet holidays commercial director, said: “For many reasons, Rhodes is one of our most loved destinations, and we were saddened to see parts of the beautiful destination impacted by wildfires this summer.
“But it’s been fantastic to see that Rhodes is making a strong recovery, and holidaymakers are once again enjoying all the island has to offer. I’m delighted that we’re offering an even longer season in Rhodes this year, further supporting its recovery and contributing to a more sustainable way of travel.”
Sample packages include seven nights’ all-inclusive at the five-star Kresten Royal Euphoria Resort for £682pp, departing Bristol on 29 October 2023.
