Noyes brings more than 35 years’ travel industry experience across aviation, travel management and cruise to the role. At Carnival, Noyes served as executive vice-president of operations and then chief executive of P&O Cruises and Cunard.

His appointment as non-executive chair follows investment in Celestyal by private equity house Searchlight Capital partners. He will provide leadership to the Celestyal board, the line said on Tuesday (15 March), as well as guidance and support to its executive team led by chief executive Chris Theophilides.

“I am excited to join Celestyal Cruises and look forward to working closely with Chris and his team as we welcome back our guests this spring," said Noyes.

Theophilides added: “I am confident his [Noyes’] experience and profound knowledge of travel and cruise in particular will prove invaluable as we work towards our strategic goals of growth and fleet renewal."
