In an updated travel advisory, the FCDO said coordinated strike action and large-scale demonstrations in the country are next planned for Thursday 6 April, and may start the evening before and run for several days.
Earlier this month Brits travelling to France were warned protests "could turn violent" after pension reforms passed without a vote saw the French retirement age rise from 62 to 64.
"Since mid-March there have been spontaneous protests in central Paris and elsewhere in France," the FCDO said.
"Protests are likely to take place and could occur with little notice. Some protests have turned violent. The protests may lead to disruptions to road travel.
"There is also ongoing strike action affecting multiple sectors including transport networks."
Travellers have been advised to monitor the media, check the latest advice with operators, avoid demonstrations and follow the advice of local authorities.
