The three virtual tours on 24 February, 3 March and 8 March will be led by G chief experience officer Mustapha, who will guide the virtual audience around some of the country’s iconic destinations, giving them an insider’s view and chances to interact live.
After each tour, participants will have the option to donate via the Heygo platform, with 60% of the donations going to G’s non-profit partner Planeterra, which will use the cash to continue its work supporting tourism-dependent communities around the world.
Mustapha’s first call will be at Ait Ben Haddou, south of Marrakech, a Unesco World Heritage in the foothills of the Atlas mountains. He will also tour Marrakech’s famous medina to source all the ingredients for the city’s signature dish – tagine – and explore the architecture of the Bahia Palace.
Ant Stone, G’s director of marketing, said the new partnership would provide a great opportunity for agents to upskill in a fun way, and coincide with increased interest in travel to Morocco.
"What could be better than learning about iconic destinations from the comfort of your home or desk, with access to a local guide who can answer all your questions and give the best insider tips?
"We see time and time again the value in our agents experiencing tours, and this new partnership with Heygo allows us to offer more agents the opportunity to virtually tour destination highlights, to really gain first-hand local expertise."
Stone added that with more than 30 Morocco departures on sale for April, the country was the perfect place to kick things off. Morocco recently lifted its UK flight ban, and reopened its borders under a more lenient Covid travel regime.
The tours will take place on 24 February (4.45pm), 3 March (5pm) and 8 March (3.30pm). All times are GMT. Agents can reserve a spot for free here.
