The Bedlington-based agency, a Clia member, collapsed on Monday (21 February) after 38 years in business. The business, run by Beryl Gibson and daughter Jane, was also a founder member of the Advantage Travel Partnership. Together, the team at Northumbria Travel shared more than 100 years’ travel industry experience.
It was accredited by the University of the Third Age, the Rotary and Freemasonry as travel arrangers, and specialised in river as well as ocean cruise – plus touring and solo travel.
Abta said the majority of travel arrangements booked by Northumbria Travel were retail leisure sales. The association has advised clients to contact their operators directly to rearrange bookings.
"We are sorry to inform you that Northumbria Travel Ltd has ceased trading with effect from 21 February 2022," said Abta, adding claims must be made within six months of the date of failure.
