The company said the “vast majority” had been found other roles across dnata brands.
A letter from Ailsa Pollard, dnata Travel Group chief executive, UK & Europe and Henry Sunley, Sunmaster and Netflights managing director, informing staff of the decision, said Sunmaster would cease trading yesterday (8 March).
The letter said the decision was “in line with our wider strategy to simplify our portfolio into a set of core brands”.
It added: “This decision has not been taken lightly, and we are working hard to provide as much support as possible to the Sunmaster team at this difficult time.
“In many cases, they have been offered new positions elsewhere in our organisation – although sadly that has not been possible for all of them, and we will be saying goodbye to several colleagues in the coming days.”
No further bookings will be taken under Sunmaster and customers with existing bookings will be informed their holidays will be fulfilled by Travel Republic.
Affected staff will attend a meeting in the next few weeks following the start of a redundancy consultation process.
A dnata spokesperson said: “We are providing support to affected team members and transferring as many as possible to alternative roles elsewhere in our UK organisation. We’d like to thank the Sunmaster team, customers and suppliers for their patience and understanding during this period.”
The spokesperson added no other brands were set to be affected.
