Access to the find-travel-test-provider.service.gov.uk/providers page, to which travellers are redirected from the government’s travel advice, was patchy for much of the morning.
However, when TTG was able to access the page, the cheapest test – a £14.94 home testing kit provided by C-19 – was already sold out, with C-19 saying more stock would arrive next week.
Prices typically range from £20 to £40, although pricing for a number of providers is currently listed as £null. TTG was also unable to filter the list by price without the site producing another error message.
In total, the search tool returned 61 results, although less than 20 were priced – with the rest listed as £null. The majority of priced tests were for home testing/swab kits.
From 4am on Sunday (24 October), fully vaccinated arrivals into the UK will be able to take a Day 2 PCR test instead of a more expensive PCR test.
Which? Travel editor Rory Boland branded the roll-out "shambolic" in a tweet, while several travel professionals took to social media to report the site as being unavailable.
