The carrier announced on Tuesday the first flight to the Ontario capital will depart on Thursday (22 June) from London Stansted via Reykjavik, launching Play’s fifth route into North America.
“The UK serves as one of the significant drivers for Play’s traffic via its hub,” said chief executive Birgir Jonsson. “Among the UK airports, Stansted stands out as the largest contributor to Play’’s operations in terms of passenger volume and connectivity to and from the UK.”
Since its launch in June 2021, Play has gained a significant foothold in the UK, serving Glasgow and Liverpool in addition to Stansted.
According to the chief executive, Play is continuously “evaluating new market opportunities”, especially in North America and the UK. “I am excited to see what the year ahead holds for us,” he added.
To mark the two-year anniversary, the carrier has also launched a winter sale from 20 June to 4 July, granting customers savings up to 40%.
