Angela Brav, chief executive, Europe, IHG said: “We’re thrilled to be opening InterContinental London - The O2 in one of the greatest cities in the world.

“Much like InterContinental Hong Kong or InterContinental Paris Le Grand, this iconic hotel is set to become a destination in its own right, next to one of the UK’s most popular entertainment venues.

“We’re enormously proud of our award-winning brand that continues to expand in Europe’s most visited cities. East London is going through an unprecedented transformation and I’m confident InterContinental London - The O2 hotel will be the perfect luxury retreat for both local residents and guests.”

Surinder Arora, founder and chairman of the Arora Group, said: “We are delighted to be partnering once more with IHG, delivering another best in class project.

“After years of planning and careful design, we can now open the doors to our new InterContinental London - The O2.

“With our unique position on the river and extensive facilities for business and leisure, the hotel brings a new world-class luxury hotel offering to this vibrant part of the capital and we’re looking forward to welcoming our first guests.”

I’m guessing we’ll all be attending a few functions here come WTM time
