Israel’s Ministry of Tourism has published contact details and pledged to assist anyone needing to leave.
The FCDO is advising against all but essential travel to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories and against all travel to an extensive area affected by the conflict in the south of the country.
It also urges any UK citizens remaining in the country to register their presence.
The tourist board said in a statement: “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the events that have taken place in Israel over the weekend. We offer our condolences to those who have been affected by the current situation.
“We are monitoring the situation and are committed to ensuring that all tourists visiting Israel are safe and informed.”
It advises any UK visitors still in the country to contact their travel provider or the UK embassy in Israel.
The phone number for WhatsApp inquiries is: +972-55-972-6931. Those still in the country can call 104 for advice. An email address, virtual@goisrael.gov.il is also in use.
