In a statement released on Thursday (20 October), the carrier’s board of directors confirmed the "revocation of all the powers of the executive president Alfredo Altavilla", which was ordered by a resolution on 12 October.
His powers have now been attributed to the airline’s chief executive, Fabio Maria Lazzerini.
The board said the company’s main task is to "remain focused" on its industrial plan, with the aim of consolidating the relaunch of ITA Airways and protecting the company’s workers.
Last month, an investor group – including Air France-KLM and Delta Air Lines – showed interest in acquiring the Italian state-owned carrier.
