More seats and breaks are available from Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester for travel in February and March next year, with the airline and operator citing increased demand from British fans to get away to the Italian capital to catch England v Italy on 13 February 2022 and Scotland v Italy on 12 March 2022.

At Birmingham and Manchester, Jet2.com will offer extra outbound services on Friday 11 February and returns on Monday 14 February, while at Glasgow, it will put on extra outbound services on Friday 11 March and returns on Monday 14 March.

The move effectively ups Jet2’s schedule to two daily flights into Rome’s Fiumicino airport over match weekends in February and March.

Steve Heapy, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief executive, said: “We’ve all missed being able to watch live sport, so it’s no surprise that we are seeing strong demand from customers looking to see England and Scotland play in the Six Nations Championship in Rome.

"On the back of that demand, we have put on additional flights and city breaks from Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester airports, which are perfectly timed for fans wanting to head to the Italian city to visit Rome and see these matches."

Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks full winter 2021/22 flight and city break programme to Rome will run:

• Birmingham – four weekly services (Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday)
• Glasgow – two weekly services operating on Mondays and Fridays
• Leeds Bradford – two weekly services (Thursday and Sunday)
• Manchester – four weekly services (Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday)
• Newcastle – two weekly services on Mondays and Fridays
