The airline and operator has confirmed it will up its Madeira and Malta programmes from 1 July, with in excess of an additional 70 flights to the holiday islands available in July and August.
This includes a new twice-weekly Stansted-Malta route, launching on 3 July. Jet2 had previously halted all flights and holidays until 24 June in anticipation of a prolonged delay to the resumption of international travel after the government lifted its ban on non-essential leisure travel on 17 May.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief executive Steve Heapy said there was "enormous" pent-up demand for trips to the Balearics, Malta and Madeira, and stressed the additions to the green list were an "overdue but welcome step in the right direction".
He also hailed the government’s stated intention to ease its quarantine rules for fully vaccinated amber list arrivals, more details of which will follow next month.
"We believe other destinations should still be added to the green list," said Heapy. "However, what this demonstrates is that the government is firmly committed to reopening international travel and we commend that approach."
Owing to its continued presence on the UK government’s red list, Jet2 has pushed back its plans to restart flights and holidays to Turkey to 22 July and said it would keep the decision under review in line with further government updates.
"For any destinations currently on the amber list, we will provide an update to customers in due course," Heapy added.
"We welcome recent news reports about vaccinated people being able to travel to amber list destinations without having to quarantine and we look forward to further updates on this. The vaccination programme has been a huge success, so it is time for us all to enjoy the benefits of that.
“UK holidaymakers have looked on with envy as other countries across Europe have opened up. It is finally their turn to get away on their precious holidays to the sunshine and we could not be more excited about taking them away.”
