May joins Hunter after 13 years with Kuoni, where he was part of the tailor-made specialist’s leadership team, and will head up the firm’s sales and commercial operation.
Hunter was founded by husband and wife team Finlay and Wendy Hunter, specialising in luxury chalets in France – notably in the ski resorts of Morzine and Les Gets.
It currently had 18 chalets in the Alps, which range from £2,250 to £70,000 per week during winter.
May said he was looking forward to working with UK agents and tour operators offering luxury travel services.
"The appetite for ski holidays is back, and we’re kickstarting the winter season with a new sales incentive, which allows guests to enjoy a free special ingredient such as an in-chalet bespoke spa experience or our 24-hour resort driver service," said May.
Agents can also earn a £50 Love2Shop voucher for every booking made with the company during November, so long as it is for travel between 10 December 2021 and 31 January 2022 and exceeds £5,000 in value.
May brings more than 20 years’ travel industry experience to the role spanning companies including First Choice, Canada 3000 Airlines and Icelandair.
Finlay Hunter added: “We know how lucky we are to have Matt onboard running our sales and commercial strategy and we value his huge amount of experience within the travel industry.
"We’re ready to make Hunter Chalets the go-to company when it comes to high-end chalets, both during the ski and summer season."
