Luxury Cottages, which was launched in 2020, is also set to recruit another 25 new staff after receiving investment from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund, which will allow the specialist to increase its properties to more than 1,200 across the UK.
The company said Carrick’s appointment was also part of its plan to become a “leading brand” in the UK holiday cottages market.
Luxury Cottages founder and chief executive Alistair Malins explained that Carrick’s appointment came at an “inflexion point” for the company.
“Not only have we recently taken on our first institutional funding, but we’re growing at a rapid pace, and adding some stunning properties to our portfolio,” said Malins.
“Richard has peerless experience in this sector and has helped us navigate through unprecedented times. We’re excited about the next chapter in our journey and looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”
Carrick, who also worked for tour operator MyTravel during his career, currently holds several non-executive director roles, as well as being an investor and a consultant to the industry.
