November 2023 traffic across the group, which owns and operates Stansted, Manchester and East Midlands airports, represented 102% of November 2019 levels.
This comes after MAG’s report of record half-year revenues, which totalled £706 million according to last week’s interim reports.
The group attributed the growth to the recovery of affordable short-haul flights, the return of key long-haul services and the introduction of new airlines to its airports.
Stansted saw the most substantial increase. Almost two million passengers passed through the London airport last month, 104% of last year’s traffic.
Manchester airport reached 102% of 2019 levels, serving 1.9 million people. This marks a year-on-year passenger increase for both airports, at 7.5% and 13.8% respectively.
East Midlands airport reported a decrease in traffic in November 2023 compared to 2019. The 188,556 passengers who travelled from the airport last month represented 91% of pre-pandemic traffic, but also showed the highest year-on-year growth at 29%.
At both East Midlands and Manchester airports, 100% of passengers passed through security in 15 minutes or less in November, while at Stansted the figure was 98%.
