EasyJet surveyed 2,000 UK consumer earlier this month to assess their 2023 travel intentions, with 64% of respondents telling the carrier they would take an overseas holiday over the coming 12 months.
Seven in 10 (70%) said they would prioritise a holiday over other expenditure in their yearly budget, while 66% said their holiday would be their most important spend in the new year.
Almost half of respondents said they were still planning to go on the same number of holidays that they would usually, and spend about the same amount. Around a quarter of respondents are aiming to go on more holidays and spend more on travel compared with last year.
The survey suggests about half of Brits are planning on taking at least one holiday in 2023, while almost a third plan to take at least two.
Nearly three-quarters of respondents (74%) will travel short-haul, with 70% looking to holiday in Europe. Four in five respondents said they felt travelling in the UK can be more expensive than travelling abroad.
EasyJet chief executive Johan Lundgren said: “We know holidays are important to people. This survey goes to show just what a priority it is for people, with so many determined to protect their holidays."
