Malta’s Azure Window has been smashed in a recent storm.
The coastal rock formation on Gozo island was a famous landmark in the country until a storm hit yesterday.
Now, not only has the arch collapsed but the stacks which supported it have also been demolished too.
Roger Chessell, who lives on the island, witnessed the collapse and told the Times of Malta: “There was a big raging sea beneath the window.
“Suddenly, the arch collapsed into the sea with a loud whoomph, throwing up a huge spray. By the time the spray had faded, the stack had gone too."
