The Horizon Cruise Terminal in Southampton, which first welcomed passengers in July, is fitted with shore power which allows vessels with the necessary technology to "plug in" once it is commissioned later this year. It also uses solar panelled roofing.
Courts said it is "important that our environmental commitments are at the heart of everything we do" as the cruise industry begins to recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Building state-of-the-art green infrastructure at cruise terminals, helps us move towards cleaner cruising; creating more spaces for these ships to dock and putting us on track to hit Net Zero by 2050," he continued.
