The five Fairer Travel categories recognise those travel businesses doing most to protect the environment and local communities, to create inclusive and supportive workplaces, and to welcome travellers with special accessibility requirements.
There was particular success for Intrepid Travel, Explore Worldwide and Trees4Travel, all shortlisted in two Fairer Travel categories, while The Travel Corporation’s Contiki and Red Carnation Hotels brands have each been shortlisted once, alongside a shortlisting for The Travel Corporation itself.
Finalists in the first-ever Accessible Holidays Provider of the Year category, meanwhile, include specialist companies Enable Holidays and Limitless Travel, and non-specialists InsideJapan and Bespoke Hotels.
The five travel agent categories recognise individual sales consultants or managers across different business models and areas of specialism.
The shortlist includes five Hays Travel consultants or managers, while Not Just Travel saw four of its franchisees (Ami Wood, Mo McLaughlin, Gilly Bachelor, and Rachael and Colman Coyne) claim a place in the final.
Nominations will open later this week for the remaining three categories: the Italian National Tourist Office LGBT+ Trailblazer of the Year, the John Hays Entrepreneur of the Year, and the Travel Legend award.
The Travel Industry Awards 2022 by TTG, in association with JetBlue, takes place on Thursday 29 September at Magazine London. Tickets are now on sale, with a variety of packages or individual tickets available.
