Norse Atlantic, the new airline aiming to fill the gap left by Norwegian Air’s withdrawal from the low-cost long-haul market, has confirmed its first US routes.
In the spring, the start-up will operate to Fort Lauderdale, New York Stewart and Los Angeles Ontario airports from its Olso base.
It also plans to base several of its former Norwegian Air Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft at Gatwick, although it is not yet clear if Norse will serve the same destinations.
Norwegian previously flew Gatwick-New York JFK. Earlier this month, Norse inked a deal with UK pilots union Balpa, with the union confident the launch would create "hundreds" of jobs at Gatwick.
"We are looking very much forward to launching our affordable fares between Europe and the US next year with our more environmentally friendly Boeing 787 Dreamliners," Norse chief executive Bjorn Tore Larsen confirmed to TTG in a statement.
"Fort Lauderdale (FLL), New York (SWF) and Los Angeles (ONT) are attractive and efficient airports that serve popular travel destinations with huge catchment areas of several million customers."
