New Turkish Airlines budget carrier to serve the UK from 2024

A wholly-owned subsidiary, AJet, will start operating to the UK from the end of March 2024. AJet stems from the former AndalouJet, set up in 2008 to operate from Turkey’s Anatolia region.

The rebranded low-cost carrier will take to the skies with a new summer schedule with flights to destinations in Turkey, although it is not yet known where it will operate to in the UK.

Ahmet Bolat, Turkish Airlines chairman, said: "We fully believe that AJet, with its new name, will become an important part of the low-cost aviation industry on a global scale.”

The new low-cost airline will continue its operations based at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen airport and from the capital Ankara from the end of March 2024. Sabiha Gokcen is Istanbul’s secondary airport and a hub for established Turkish budget brand Pegasus Airlines, which already serves the UK.

AJet added: “By simplifying the services offered and utilising a wholly economy class configuration, AJet aims to reflect the cost advantage in ticket prices, making flights accessible to a broader traveller audience.”
