The group were among 10 detained after a villa party at Siem Reap, near the Angkor Wat temple complex. Photos of the group in swimwear in what the Daily Mail says are ‘racy positions’ were posted on social media. The five, all men, have insisted that they are not even in any of the pictures found online.
However, prosecutors have apparently told the group they could face a year in jail for breaching Cambodian traditions.
The mother of one of the accused has said her son’s phone has now been removed from him and that the group had been asked to sign papers without having them translated.
Around 30 police officers stormed the villa where the group were staying following a crackdown on inappropriate behaviour, the Mail says.
