The airline eased its mask rules on Tuesday (1 March) for passengers travelling to and from airports in England and Northern Ireland.

“It’s no longer a legal requirement to wear a face mask at our airports or onboard our planes," reads Jet2’s updated advice on face coverings on its website.

"However, as per UK government guidance, we recommend that you continue to wear a face mask in these spaces, and you will need to wear one when you get to your overseas destination."

Face coverings will remain mandatory on flights operating to and from airports in Scotland where wearing them in confined spaces remains a legal requirement for all people aged six and above.

Passengers will also be asked to wear face coverings at certain points during their journey, depending on their point of departure and destination.

"You’ll need to wear a mask when you leave the plane, inside the airport and onboard our transfers to and from your accommodation, even if you’re fully vaccinated," said Jet2 in its guidance for when passengers are overseas.

"There may also be additional face mask restrictions in some places, and the rules around ages may differ per destination too."
