No one was hurt following a “stampede” at Disneyland Paris on Saturday night (March 23) sparked by a loud bang.
Footage from the scene showed dozens of visitors shouting and screaming as they fled the theme park shortly after 9pm.
Reports of explosions and/or gunfire were quickly played down by the resort though, with the source of the bang traced to a escalator fault at nearby Marne la Valley station.
A Disneyland Paris spokesperson said: "There has been no explosions, no shootings, no injuries. It is a false alarm.
“The lockdown and police attendance were standard procedure following any sort of incident."
The French interior ministry later tweeted: "Mass stampede tonight at Disneyland Paris. False alarm, security forces confirm there is no threat."
