Norwegian carried 2.6 million passengers in September, operating a fleet of 67 aircraft. It emerged from bankruptcy protection in May, reverting to its original business model of a short-haul budget carrier after ditching long-haul services.
“September was another busy month for travel within, to and from the Nordics, said Geir Karlsen, Norwegian chief executive.
“We are also delighted to see that the corporate market is returning after the summer season. The number of corporate travellers is now on par with pre-pandemic levels for our most frequented domestic business routes in Norway.”
He added Norwegian expected to recruit 700 new staff “across all our bases”.
However, Norwegian has no fuel hedging for the winter and the carrier warned of softer demand.
“Norwegian is well prepared to tackle this quieter period by rigorous route planning, flexible leasing terms through power-by-the-hour agreements as well as sound agreements with our unions,” said Karlsen.
