Not Just Travel has appointed a recruitment manager to "help keep up with the demand" in applications for its established travel agent business.
Louise Baxendell joins the homeworking network after a career spent working across a number of travel retail businesses including Lunn Poly, Thomson, Global Travel Group and Co-operative Travel Group.
She will be working with Not Just Travel’s experienced travel agency arm – led by fellow ex-Global employee Cherie Richards.
Not Just Travel said Baxendell had been given “no time for a gentle onboarding process” overseeing 250 enquiries in her first week.
Co-founders Steve Witt and Paul Harrison said: "Louise knows travel and she’s a real people person. She has a huge amount of experience and has owned her own travel business before, so she’s done exactly what she is recruiting people to do – she’s walked the walk.
"Louise knows what someone who’s starting a travel business needs. She chose to join us – and we’re delighted to have such a passionate and experienced person join our team."
Baxendell said: "I’m so excited to join the team and get going. I love the whole ethos of the company and the focus on training, development and entrepreneurship."
Witt and Harrison will aim to increase the size of their recruitment teams for Not Just Travel and sister arm, The Travel Franchise, after experiencing a "high demand" from homeworking roles.
Harrison said: "There are two type of people joining us right now. Those who have worked in travel and been made redundant. They don’t want to leave but want help and support to get started.
"The second are those already in homeworking but looking for better commercial terms to help them during this period and help to find customers. That’s what we are good at doing and it shows."
The company claimed a record number of new members last month.
Witt and Harrison added: "Last month we had one of the best commission months for the year in terms of what we paid out to our travel consultants.
"We don’t sign people up with false hope, people are making money. We are determined to be the best in the industry, and we are investing in the best team for that. We believe we offer the best support and training in the industry with the best ratio of mentors and managers to travel consultants."
